
Born in Southern California and raised on punk rock and beach culture, Megan Besmirched has been making art professionally since 2000. She has shown alongside many of the Pop Surrealists and Lowbrow Luminaries for over 20 years. Showing in galleries such as La Luz De Jesus, Roq La Rue, Harold Golen, and 111 Minna Gallery. As well as in exhibits at Laguna Beach Art Museum, Fullerton Museum Center and Alameda Art Museum. Her work has been published in Juxtapoz Magazine, Hi-Fructose Magazine and the Margaret Keane and Keanabilia catalog. And currently works for Coffin Cuties magazine
A painter in the Style of The “Big-Eyed Masters”, a genre popularized by artists; Margaret Keane, GIG, and Igor Pantuhoff. She is also in the process of writing a book by the same name, that uncovers the identities of the 1960's artists, as well as documenting her own collection which has been the subject of three international museum shows.
In 2001, she with a partner started one of the the first pop up galleries in San Diego coinciding with the Comic Con, curating the now famous "The Truth Show" showcasing many rising artists of the time, including David Choe and Shepard Fairey. She continues to curate group shows at galleries across the country.
Megan currently resides and paints from Salty Dame Studios, in Chicago, which also doubles as the headquarters for her enamel pin company PinCheLoca. When not creating new work, she has a penchant for finding the perfect black liquid liner, digging through thrift stores, and road tripping for seaside attractions and vegan junk food.
